The plan centers on promoting healthy living through a holistic approach that extends beyond physical activity and active transportation. It positions South Houston as a community that fosters social connection, improves housing quality and supply, strengthens flood resilience, and supports educational opportunity.
Recommendations were organized into three implementation scales — Focus Areas, Connectors, and Citywide Strategies — establishing a framework that integrates public realm improvements, mobility enhancements, and neighborhood-scale investments to support long-term community health and stability.
I directed outreach efforts and facilitated public workshops to gather resident input on priorities and lived experiences. I also developed the visual materials, maps, and engagement tools used to communicate strategies and capture feedback, ensuring complex planning concepts were accessible and community-informed.
